2001-10-22	Future tour plans: Mary is trying to organise an Irish tour for early Februay 2002 and she tries to setup a UK tour for late 2002.
2001-10-22	Mary will be performing in the Late Late Show on RTE1 (Irish television) on Friday the 26th of October.
2001-10-22	Mary's new album has been released in Ireland. Her album can be found in every recordshop and most recordshops even have a large promotional display in their shop windows, including a huge poster in the style of the new album. The new album also has a nice touch: the address of this website is mentioned on the back of the booklet that comes with the album.
2001-10-14	Here is something that might interest our Japanese fans (but also others). I got an e-mail message that a radio station in Japan will play at least one of Mary's songs on October the 19th. Here are the details: Radio station: Shonan Beach FM78.9Mhz in Japan Date and Time: 19 October, 10PM (Japan Standard Time) Name of the show: Yellow Beat The show is also webcasted via the Internet at www.beachfm.co.jp
2001-10-07	The new album will be in a special packaging, with an outer cover that used the colourfull image as is now presented for Hidden Harvest and an other inner cover which is now presented for The Best of Mary Black 1991-2001
2001-10-06	The new album The Best of Mary Black 1991-2001 with the bonus CD Hidden Harvest will also be released in Europe on 29 October. We now have the following release list: 18 October - Ireland 21 October - Japan 29 October - Europe 23 October - USA
2001-10-06	The Unofficial Mary Black Homepage has now become The Mary Black Homepage. This means that this website is now officially the main website for Mary Black, approved by Dara Records. This is celebrated by a complete new design, which resembles the looks of the new album The Best of Mary Black 1991-2001. I hope you like this new design. More details about the changes can be found in the update section.
2001-09-07	Here is a bit more information about the new album: It will be released in the US on 23rd of October and Japan the week before that. The European release still has to be announced. We will also have a promo single of "Wildest Dreams" and "Turning Away".
2001-09-05	All details about the new "Best Of Mary Black album - Part II" are now available online in the Discography section, including cover art and tracklisting.
2001-09-04	Mary's new album "The Best Of Mary Black - Part II" will be released on the 18th of October in Ireland. Due to some legal issues, it will not yet be released outside of Ireland. But it will probably become available for online ordering. More information about the new album will become available in the next few weeks.
2001-08-24	As some of you may know, Mary can be seen the video/DVD "Celtic Tides", including other Irish/celtic artists such as Clannad, Altan and Loreena McKennitt. This programme will be broadcasted on Bravo TV network in the US on Saturday, August 25th at 6:00 PM (ET), and repeated on Sunday, August 26th at 12:00 PM (ET). Mary can be seen in an interview and giving a live performance of "Flesh and Blood".

2001-07-01	On the Seamus Begly & Jim Marry album, Mary sings with Seamus the song "An Ciarrioch Mallaithe" (The Cursed Kerryman).
2001-06-22	Early July, Dara Record will release an album of Seamus Begley & Jim Murray titled "Ragairne". Mary will participate on one song of this album. When I know the title of the song, I will let you know.
2001-06-22	The new compilation album "The Best of Mary Black - part II" is scheduled for release at the end of September / start of October. On the album, two new songs will be placed (information about the titles will follow soon). The compilation album will have no overlap with "The Collection" (except for "Song For Ireland"). Included with the collection album, there will be a bonus CD called "Hidden Harvest". This bonus CD will contain previously unreleased songs. Some of these songs were placed as B-sides on singles (like "Ring Them Bells" or "Who Knows Where The Time Goes"), while others have never been released before (like "Give A Little Now") or are different versions (live version of "Say A Little Prayer" and possibly a live duet with Mary Chapin Carpenter on "The Moon and St. Christopher").
2001-06-22	Yesterday, the 21st of June, a new photo shoot took place for the upcoming new album and for new press photos. When the photographs are ready, they will become available on this website.
2001-06-11	RTE has a program on TV called "Ireland's Greatest Hits". Mary is mentioned several times on the website and has "No Frontiers" also in the list of Ireland's greatest hits. Also read the stories of "A Woman's Heart" by Eleanor McEvoy and "Past the point of rescue" by Mick Hanley. The three articles have also been added as one article in the Library.
2001-05-05	Mary's recording of "Turning Away" is to be used in the new Jenifer Lopez film entitled "Angel Eyes". It will also be on the soundtrack album.

2001-03-27	There is a special Internet Radio broadcast at http://www.irishmusicradio.com called CHERISH THE LADIES - Special Programme. For one week Starting Wed 28th Mar, Noel McCaul will present a special programme dedicated to the ladies of Irish music. Featured artists include Enya, Sinead O'Connor, Mary Black, Dolores Keane, Susan McKeown and many more, not forgetting the wonderful group 'Cherish the Ladies'. 2001-03-12	Next Saturday, 17 March, BBC Radio 2 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/events/stpatrick.shtml) are celebrating St Patrick's Day with a whole host of programmes, featuring among others Sharon Shannon and the Corrs. The highlight is a one hour concert by Mary (21.00 GMT). Thanks to Ray Lackenby and Mike Wilson for this information.

2001-03-06	Mary's record company is now finalizing the details for a Dutch concert tour in March 2002. This tour will include 10 to 11 concerts. When more details are available about this tour, they will become available in the concert lists.
2001-03-03	Mary Black contributes 2 previously unreleased songs to the new Éist Arís compilation CD out by Dara. She sings with Maighréad and Tríona Ní Domhnaill on Amhrán Hiúdaí Phádaí Éamoinn (Lament for Hiúdaí Phádaí Éamoinn) and a duet with her sister, Frances Hó Ró M'iníon Donn Bhóidheach (My Pretty Brown-Haired Lass. This one also features Declan Sinnott on guitar and Pat Crowley on piano/accordian.
2001-02-25	Leo Bertelsen wrote the following message the Mary Black mailinglist: I was perusing my new TV Guide last night and noticed that on the evening of Friday March 2 PBS is going to broadcast a special "Kennedy Center Presents" program highlighting Irish and Irish-American music. Among the scheduled performers are Mary Black Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello among others. I don't know whether or not this will be broadcast in any other area besides NYC, but you all might want to keep an eye on your local listings.
2001-02-19	Gorta, an organisation that works to eliminate world hunger has released a special CD with several Irish artists, including Mary Black. Other artists on this album are U2, Sinead O'Connor, Van Morrison, The Chieftans, Altan, Maire Brennan, The Corrs, The Cranberries, David Grey, Dolores Keane, Jack L, Sinead Lohan, Donal Lunny & Coolfin and Christy Moore. 2001-02-08	Thanks to Carolyn Andre for the following news: There's a long-running radio program called Folkscene that is now heard only via webcast on http://www.kpig.com .. . Real Audio (which I can never get to work) and streaming MP3. Next week, their show will include: The special feature on this program, is Mary Black & her band recorded in concert at the Wadsworth Theatre, Los Angeles, California..October 30, 1993 Once the program is put up on the web site, it plays continuously for one week. The good thing is that you can start listening at any hour - US or non-US locations; noone has to worry about matching time zones. The down side is that you can't just start at the beginning. Mary's set comes about 30 minutes into the program, according to the playlist. So I've included the playlist here ... (this program is not on the site right now). If you just start up the show & listen for awhile, you'll either recognize a track against the list or get to one of their back announces .... By the way - I think the show always has a great mix of music that is worth listening to anyhow! 2001-01-18	Mary won the Best Female Folk Singer award at the Irish Music magazine awards just before Xmas.
2001-01-16	Frank Gallagher has left Mary's band. Mary and Frank have decided to go seperate ways and remain the best of friends. There is also a new percussion player rehearsing at the moment - Martin Ditcham who will replace Rod Quinn. So the line-up for Celtic Connections at the 16th of January 2001 is: Pat Crowley: piano and accordian Bill Shanley: guitars Steve Cooney: guitar and mandolin James Blennerhasset: bass Martin Ditcham: percussion
2001-01-16	There is definite plan for the release of a compilation album ( best of vol 2) including some new material and a bonus CD of material which has not been on any of Mary's solo albums.
2001-01-16	Mary's next tour is the USA east coast in March followed by Australia / New Zealand in April. Some festivals during the Summer including Thonder and some US festivals in late August. They had hoped to tour Holland in October but it looks like it will have to be put back to early 2002, but there may be some dates in Denmark and Norway in October and possibly some UK dates. Back to the USA in November for a 3 week west coast tour followed by some Irish dates (yet to be confirmed).
