1998-12-15	A few days ago, I talked with Joe O'Reilly (Mary's husband and Manager). He told me that Mary is now resting from her USA tour, which she thinks was a big success. She will also be recording some new songs in the next two/three months. The new album will NOT be "Hidden Harvest". The title is not known yet, but they hope to release it before the summer of 1999. The "Hidden Harvest" CD is delayed undefinitely (whether it will be released someday, Joe couldn't tell me).
1998-12-2	The new album, which will be released next year, appears to be the already announced album Hidden Harvest, as Mary talked about a new tour next year called The Hidden Harvest Tour. This album is supposed to include several songs Mary already recorded in the past, but which have not been released before.
1998-11-2	Somewhere next year a complete new album will be released. And it will be more "folky" than Shine (according to Joe O'Reilly, Mary's husband and manager, at least that is what he told an interviewer in an article).
1998-11-2	A collection album should be released in the USA on the 3th of November 1998. It is called Song For Ireland. This album contains several songs from several of Mary's earlier albums and of the Black Family album. I don't know a definite song list. I someone buys this album in the USA, please let me know the tracklist.
1998-9-26	U2, The Corrs, Boyzone, Van Morrison, Phil Coulter, The Hot House Flowers, Brian Kennedy and Mary Black will all feature on a new album entitled Forgotten Angels. The collection of tracks will also include Christy Moore singing Daddy Swing Me High, Phil Lynott singing Sarah and Clannad with Christmas Angel. The album is being put together in aid of Temple St. Childrens Hospital in Dublin and all cash raised will be going towards vital hospital equipment. The album is being released on October 5th. All the artists featured on the album have donated their tracks free of charge, with a donation of £10,000 from Enya to cover production costs.
1998-9-5	On the Mary Black Mailinglist, Ray mentioned that Mary Black and her band have been on the British Channel 4 News. They were playing at a peace concert in Armagh, N.Ireland directly prior to the arrival of President Clinton. Ray also hear from Mary at a concert in Dublin, that in September, Mary and the band are going into the studio to record a new album.
1998-9-5	According to Jim Hayes and Charlene Costello, a CD was released this year called The Folk Scene Collection. This inncludes a live performance of "Columbus" by Mary Black and her band. The CD (RHR CD 109) came out this year on Red House Records, P.O. Box 4044, St. Paul, MN 55104 USA. Also featured are live or radio studio performances by Richard Thompson, John Gorka, Iris Dement and Maura O'Connell.
1998-8-18	Kenneth Wilson also told me about a new compilation CD The Best of the Cambridge Folk Festival which includes a live version of Summer Sent You.
1998-8-18	I got some information from Kenneth Wilson about a song sung by Mary, which I hadn't heard of before. It is called Bogey's Bonny Belle and is on a compilation CD called The Very Best of Ireland. The label says 'Manufactured by Dolphin Records in association with The Hit Record Company Limited - ULTCD 014'
1998-8-11	I have some sad news. I just heard that Frank Gallagher's father had died last Wednesday. Frank has been part of Mary's band for several years now. Eleanor McEvory has taken over for Frank in several of the concerts last fews days. I hereby would like express my regrets to Frank.
1998-8-11	The album Pat Crowley released (together with Johnny McCarthy (no, not Jimmy)) is called Fool's Dream.
1998-7-9	The first single for Speaking With The Angel has been released. It is called Don't Say OK. More information about this single can be found in the discography section of the page.
1998-6-21	According to Jim Hayes, Pat Crowley has released an album of traditional tunes on Dara Records in Ireland, with Mary singing on one track. Jim spoke to Pat after one of Mary's concerts. This release has not been confirmed yet and a title is not know.
1998-6-21	During serveral of Mary's concerts in the USA, they played two news songs. The first is called Fields Of Gold, the second is called Give A Little Now.
1998-6-18	On the website of NewsNight Minnesota you can find a Real Video of Mary's perfomance and interview in that show. Go to http://www.ktca.org/newsnight/newsnight.html and search for the edition of June 17th 1998. That brings up the realvideo of the newscast. Mary's interview and performance starts at about 13 minutes into the program. First you will hear a part of Summer Sent You after which the interview starts. Then she will sing a NEW song called Give a Little Now At the end of the show you also hear By The Time It Gets Dark.
1998-6-15	An extended tour through the USA has been scheduled for this fall. Exact dates can be found on the concert pages.
1998-6-15	The release of Hidden Harvest has been postponed till further notice. There is no new release date know at this time.
1998-4-21	More concerts are now planned for august 1998. Mary will give 5 concerts in Dublin.
1998-4-20	From now on, there is a Mary Black Mailing list. With this list everyone who likes Mary's music can come into contact with other fans of Mary. Check out the mailing list page, which explains what the list is and how you can join.
1998-4-17	In June a special album is scheduled to be released. This album will contain about ten or eleven previously unreleased tracks, rare b-sides and live recordings. The working title for this album is *Hidden Harvest*.
1998-4-17	Several new concerts have been planned: A tour for the USA has been planned for the fall of 1998. There are also be a few concerts for the USA planned for June; In July and August, Mary will probably tour several European cities. When I have the dates, I will place them on the concert page. 1998-2-25	The birthday project is back on, but in a different form. You can sent a birthday card for Mary to my address and I will make sure that Mary will get it before her birthday.
1998-2-11	Joe O'Reilly (Mary's husband and manager) requested me to not ask you for money for Mary's birthday. So I will not continue the birthday project. If you already mailed money or anything else for the project to me, I will make sure that you will get it back as soon as possible. I am contacting Joe to see if we could arrange something else instead.
1998-2-7	Frances Black (Mary's sister) has signed a contract with Sony Music to procedure several albums. And Declan Sinnott will be producing them. As you all (may) know, Declan was also the one who produced most of Mary's albums and helped her in the beginning of her carreer, until he decided two years ago to leave Mary and the band.

1998-1-23	The single Nobody Lives Without Love has not been released. Lorraine told me she had remembered wrong, as Nobody Lives Without Love was used as a b-side on a special promo-single for I Will Be There, which is not available anymore.

1998-1-21	Lorraine at Dara Records told me that Mary also appears on the album Warmer For The Sparks by Jimmy McCarthy with two songs. I do not have the tracklisting at the moment, but when the album arrives I will place the information on these pages.
1998-1-20	Mary and her husband have safely returned from the well earned holiday in Thailand (and according to Lorraine at Dara Records, she has a beautifull tan to prove she has there :)).
1998-1-20	Patrick Morgan informed me of a compilation albums called Women of the Celtic World issued by Putumayo records, which contains Mary with Song For Ireland. The album has been released in either 1995 or 1996.
1998-1-20	A new single of the Shine album has been released in Ireland called Nobody Lives Without Love. I do not have the tracklisting at the moment, but when the single arrives I will place the information on these pages.
1998-1-18	According to Yoko Nozaki, some of Mary's older albums will be re-issued in japan on the 8th of March. They will have special liner notes of Mary's latest interview on these albums (each one will have different liner notes). The covers off the album will be the same as the previous releases. 1998-1-16	Charlene Costello told me that a new CD has been released here called "Long Journey Home", which is a soundtrack for a documentary miniseries on the Irish in America. Mary Black has one song on it: Paddy's Lamentation. It's a new version she recorded of her old De Danann tune from the Anthem album.
1998-1-16	Charlene also told me about a Canadian movie called "Once in a Blue Moon". In that movie they are using Mary's song "Once In A Very Blue Moon".
1998-1-16	Today I received a postcard from Mary. She is having a holiday in Samui - Thailand and is having a really great time.
