Hello Everyone!!!!! Thought I would share my experience with hearing Mary Black perform at Symphony Hall in Boston. 'T WAS A NIGHT OF ALL NIGHTS!!!! I had received tickets to the concert as a gift from a very good friend...... I began listening to Mary Black about 3 years ago when I first heard of her while on a tour of Ireland. My sister purchased a Woman' Heart 2. My next CD of hers was "Without The Fanfare." I fell in love with that CD and her music in general.... Although it wasn't until January of 1998 where I would realize how significant it was for me to come across her music again....My father had passed away after a long-standing illness. The day of the viewing I went out for a drive and landed at Barnes and Noble where I would write a eulogy for my father. Afterwards, I went in search for a song to be played at the church. Usually, it takes me forever to find a song to relate to how I am feeling. However, on 1/24/98 I walked into Tower records and the first CD which caught my attention was "Bringing it Back Home." A compilation of various artists. I flipped it over and saw Mary's name so I immediately put that song on to listen to....It was "No Frontiers"... I had never heard this song before. Standing in the middle of the store I just cried since it totally related to what I was feeling and what I had just finished writing. Anyway, I began searching the web to try and reach Mary, emailing various radio stations etc. I wasn't getting anywhere and then I emailed the record company explaining that I wanted to see if I could request that she sing No Frontiers at the concert. I was totally psyched when they responded saying that they passed my email along to her manager. At this point, I still wanted to try and do something in case she never got the email. Well, let me tell you..... That day at work I wrote a letter which I wanted to give to her... I had made a few copies just in case. I wasn't going to take any chances..... ;-))))..... SO, not only did she sing the song the night of the concert and mention my name, she thanked me for the flowers. The emotion in which I was feeling is indescribable. The tears just strolled down my face as I listened to her voice fill Symphony Hall. I was taken back to the day of my fathers funeral and her being there singing the song. FATE PREVAILS...... I stuck around after the concert and was fortunate enough to meet her and thank her for singing the song. FATE PREVAILS Little does she know the impact she has on people. I believe that FATE PREVAILED and am extremely honored that I got to hear her sing as well as meet her. It is an event which will be with me for a life time..... I am just hoping that she had the chance to read my letter since it explained everything and it was my way of thanking her for who she is and the impact she had on me... Sincerely, Kathy K.
