Hi everybody! We are still recovering from another fabulous concert by Mary in Belgium last night!!! What's more, this time we had personal contact with her twice and she is really a fantastic personality. It all began with us trying to find out if any of the Belgian-Irish pubs knew if she was going to spend some time there and so on... no luck. She would only come in the afternoon, do the soundcheck and the concert and that was it, next day on to Holland. So at 5.30 p.m. we were there, at the hall that was closed, but Toni persisted and we walked around the building until we found an open back door. We sneaked in and found ourselves in a dark corridor, but... were stunned by Mary's voice singing Adam at the window (soundcheck). We opened the door and there she was, rehearsing on stage with the band! And this was the first song. We went to sit in the seats in a corner, afraid they might notice us and send us away, but they didn't, on the contrary! We then got a nearly complete concert!!! It didn't look like a soundcheck or rehearsal at all, but like a real concert, they were all being very professional. After half an hour it was finished and we asked her if she didn't mind the fact that we had listened in but she was really great about it. We then gave her some Belgian chocolates and a hand-written card and she went away to get changed and ready for the concert. There was one hour left , we chatted with the salesman of the CDs and T-shirts (nice guy) and gave him some tips on Belgian prices. Our seats were in the first row, right in the middle in front of Mary. Up until the break I didn't dare to take out my camera to take a picture. Slowly somebody else did and then we followed, she didn't seem to mind the flashlights too much. About the concert? Perfect as always, simply the greatest voice and the greatest musicians in the world... STANDING OVATION FOR MINUTES AND MINUTES!!! She had told us before the concert to wait for her afterwards and she kept her promise! After only 10 minutes she was back in the hall, gave us autographs, we took some pictures and had a great conversation with her. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep that night, we were too excited and are very tired now... but all worth it of course. We have tickets for a concert in Holland on the 19th, about 1 hour and a half from our house, but if we had to sail to the other end of the world for it, we would you know... Mary is very positive about Mark van Setten (great job, Mark!) and the Japanese tour before Christmas. We also talked to Frank Gallagher and the road manager, great guys, who found Japan one big party! Kazi, they really appreciated everything!!! It was pouring with rain and their hotel was a big disappointment, so we hope the chocolates made a little up for that... By the way, during the second half she suddenly mentioned our names to the entire audience to thank us for the chocolates... we could have crawled under our seats... She gave us a lot of personal looks during the singing and was very funny at times, you know, she has a great sense of humour! Right now we are very jealous of the Dutch listening to her in Breda at this very moment... We can't wait for Eindhoven...! Bye for now Nele (Nellie as Mary called me) and Toni
